December 16, 2006 - The LegoŽ Twp Fire Department has accepted delivery of a new tower ladder and rescue from Pierce. The new Tower Ladder will be assigned to Tower Ladder Co. 5 and the new Rescue to Rescue Co. 3. Both trucks will be stationed at Station 9. Visit Station 9's page for details and pictures of the new deliveries. In addition, construction of the new Station 9 slowly continues. Completion is slated for February 1, 2007.
December 6, 2006 - Effective December 7, 2006 at 12:01 am, EMS operations will be taken over by the LegoŽ Twp Emergency Medical Service, a new paid EMT force developed to protect the citizens of LegoŽ Twp. The LTFD will hand over operations and dispatch duties to the LTEMS.
October 10, 2006 - Although not 100% complete, the LegoŽ Twp Fire Department has been given the green light to move into the new Fire Headquarters. Some minor construction and the moving of furniture remain. The Fire Department now acts as the 9-1-1 center for Fire Department Calls only. In addition, the members of the defunct LegoŽ Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps has submitted a proposal to the Town Council of LegoŽ Twp to form the LegoŽ Township Emergency Medical Service, a paid medical service. The proposal includes removing the EMS division from the LTFD. The proposal would keep the existing EMT's, who were part of the old Volunteer EMS. The LTFD is in full support, since this was to be a temporary solution until the EMS could go out on their own. If passed, the LTEMS could begin operating as early as November 1, 2006.
September 1, 2006 - Construction of the new LegoŽ Twp Fire Headquarters continues. The Township 9-1-1 system has moved into the new station. Construction is still in progress. The fire apparatus will be permitted to move in within two weeks. The new firehouse is expected to be completed by mid-October. The LTFD Fire Museum is also expected to open at the end of October. Pictures of the work in progress will not be posted here.
July 28, 2006 - The LegoŽ Twp Fire Department is pleased to announce the promotions of firefighters and officers and the hiring of 6 new firefighters to the ranks. Effective August 1, 2006, The position of Lieutenant will be eliminated. The current Lieutenants will be promoted to the ranks of Captain. Mark Tobias will be promoted from Captain to Battalion Chief. Robert F. Perez got promoted to the rank of Captain. Congratulations to all new hires and new officers.
June 19, 2006 - Breakthrough! The issues surrounding the LTFD website issues begin to get resolved. Reconstruction of the entire site begins.
June 1, 2006 - Construction begins simultaneously on the two new firehouses. Pierce begins work on the new fire apparatus.
May 1, 2006 - LegoŽ Twp Mayor and Commissioners approve the building of 2 new firehouses, the purchase of a new tower ladder, rescue, mini-pumper, tanker and chiefs vehicles. In addition, a new apparatus maintenance facility will be constructed. One of the new firehouses will be a new fire headquarters, which will house a fire museum, open to the public. The other firehouse will be to replace Station 9. The old Station 9 will remain the fire academy / training site. Lastly, the new fire apparatus will replace Tower Ladder 5 and Rescue 3.
April 26, 2006 - Computer crash cripples LTFD CAD system and all other computer applications. Diaphones prove their worth as they become the primary means of dispatch.
